Every municipality on Prince Edward Island holds a municipal election to elect a minimum of one Mayor and six Councillors. Elections PEI is contracted to administer the Municipal Elections in Cornwall, Stratford, Summerside and beginning this year, Three Rivers. Municipal Elections are held every four (4) years on the first Monday in November.

Qualifications of electors :
Unless otherwise disqualified, a person is entitled to vote at an election in a municipality if the person
(a) is a Canadian citizen;
(b) is at least 18 years of age, or will attain that age on or before election day;
(c) has resided in the province for at least the six-month period immediately preceding election day; and
(d) is ordinarily resident in the municipality on election day
