School Board Mail-In Ballot

The Mail-in Ballot Application will be open and available "On-Line" from Tuesday September 6, 2022 at 8 a.m. up to 11:59p.m. on Sunday October 2, 2022

Who is eligible to vote in a School Board Trustee Election?

A person can vote in the PSB school board election if they are registered with Elections PEI and are:

  • a Canadian Citizen;
  • at least eighteen years of age on the date of the election; and
  • has been a resident in the province for at least six months before the date of the election.

A person can vote in the CSLF school board election if they meet the requirements noted above and meet one of the following requirements;

  • the person voting is an eligible parent; or
  • the person voting would be an eligible parent if the person had a child.  An eligible parent is defined by the Education Act as a resident of the province who, under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, has the right to have his or her child receive French first language instruction in the province.

How do I vote by mail?

What information do I need to send with the application?
You must include a Drivers License number or Voluntary ID number with the on-line mail-in ballot application.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. pm on Sunday October 2, 2022

When will the Mail-In Ballots be sent to you?
Elections PEI will place your ballot package in the mail for delivery beginning Monday September 26, 2022

What are the deadlines for sending back your mail-in ballot?
Your ballot will only be counted if the Chief Electoral Officer receives it at Elections PEI by 12 Noon on Election Day, Friday, October 21, 2022. 

Can I vote in person at a polling station?
No. There is no "in-person" voting for the school board election. The only way to vote is via the "Mail-In Ballot".
