Elections PEI continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on Prince Edward Island. In between electoral events, Elections PEI continues it's ongoing readiness planning, and as part, we're exploring a new operational approach to deliver an election in the context of a pandemic and post-pandemic. The health and safety of electors and the thousands of election workers who make a general election possible will always be a priority.

BY-ELECTION FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: WHEN IS THE ELECTION?
A: Advance Voting May 8, 10 and 14th from 9am - 7pm at APM Centre in Cornwall and Election Day is May 17 9am-7pm at APM Centre.

Q: CAN I VOTE IF I'M NOT REGISTERED?
A: YES. All eligible residents of Cornwall may vote in this election whether you are pre-registered or not.  You can Pre-Register Here for faster service at the polls, or simply bring two (2) pieces of ID when you go to vote.

Q: CAN I VOTE BY MAIL?
A: YES. The deadline to apply to Vote By Mail is Tuesday May 4, 2021 at 6pm.  It's easy to apply. Download our application, take a picture of  the completed form with your ID and email to voting@electionspei.ca . Once you're approved we'll mail your ballot with a postage paid return envelope. NOTE Once your application is accepted, you are not permitted to vote at the polls. Voting by Mail will be your only way to cast your vote.

Q: IS THERE JUST ONE POLLING LOCATION?
A: YES. Elections PEI has chosen the APM Centre at 35 Mercedes Drive as the Polling Location for Advance Voting and Ordinary Polling Day
 (Election Day).  The polls are open from 9 am - 7pm on voting days.

Q: CAN I BRING MY CHILD WITH ME WHEN I VOTE?
A: YES. 
 Just make sure they don't say out loud what you mark on your ballot :) 

Q: WILL I BE TURNED AWAY IF I DON'T HAVE MY ID? 
A: NO.  We request all eligible voters bring ID with them to prove two things 1) Who you are, and 2) Where you live.  If you are unable to produce Identification to attest you are eligible, you may fill out the Oath of Elector.  This legal document once signed will allow you the right to vote.
