Facts and Restrictions on Election Advertising

Complaints regarding candidates' paid advertising come under the authority of the Election Expenses Act. Any questions or complaints regarding candidates' election contributions or expenses should also be referred to the Elections PEI.

Elections PEI rents a specific area only for a polling place, such as school auditorium, church hall etc., including the grounds within 200 feet of the polling station. The Election Act states that everyone is guilty of an offence, who, during the hours of polling on ordinary polling day, posts or displays in or within two hundred feet of a polling station or the building in which a polling station is situated, any literature, emblem, ribbon, flag, banner, card, bill, poster or device that supports a candidate or registered party nearby.
