2018 Municipal Elections - Important Dates

Charlottetown, Summerside, Stratford and Cornwall each have their own Election By-laws and Elections PEI conducts the municipal elections in these communities. The next scheduled election will be held on November 5, 2018.

Important Dates for 2018

September 15, 2018
 Notice in local newspapers
October 1, 2018
 Chief Electoral Officer issues Writ of Election
   Returning Offices are opened    (normal hours are 9 am to 5 pm)
   Nomination Papers are available
   Start of Confirmation Process
   Mail-in Ballot Process is initiated
October 8, 2018
 End of Confirmation Process
October 12, 2018
 Nomination Day. Nominations cease to be accepted after 2p.m.
October 16, 2018
 Last day to register to be on the Official List of Electors
October 23, 2018
 Last day for mail-in ballot applications (6 p.m.)
October 27, 2018
 First Advance voting day (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.)
October 29, 2018
 Second Advance voting day (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.)
November 2, 2018
 Third and last Advance voting day (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.)
November 5, 2018
 Ordinary Voting Day (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.)
November 8, 2018
 Determination Day - Official counting of the votes
November 13, 2018
 Last day to request a Judicial Recount
November 16, 2018
 Official Declaration Day and Return of the Writ of Election
